The Parish Church of St John the

Evangelist Ovington

"Our Community - Our Church"

Heritage Lottery Fund Project

The Heritage Lottery Project's involvement during this period of restoration will be documented, as will the work on the church, the involvement of our community and the wider community projects.

St John's is an extended single cell building of the 12th century with a simple square 13th century unbuttressed west tower with a pyramid roof. It is constructed of random rubble flintwork with limestone dressings and concrete tiles and later roofs on the chancel and nave that have internal plastered ceilings. The south elevation of the nave has a fine Norman doorway with billet and chevron mouldings to the arch. The 14th century font has a bowl carved from a single block of stone with large symbols of the evangelists protruding on four sides

We look forward to sharing with you our journey which has been made possible by the Heritage Lottery Fund through "Our Community - Our Church"
